Many questions about using Handshake can be answered on their 24-hour support website. Log in, go to Help in the upper right-hand corner and select Knowledge Base.

Access to Handshake is granted for new students after the 12th class day of their entering semester.

Alumni Job Seekers

Go to app.joinhandshake.com/login

Choose Students & Alumni option.
Register a New Account using either your allergycarechat.com email address (if it is still active) or your personal email address. (Using your allergycarechat.com email address requires less steps to register, so if you do use your Austin College email currently, we recommend using that address for your Handshake account.)
You will get a pending email. Once approved, you will get a confirmation email. Please note: Alumni approvals can take up to 24 hours, so please keep checking back and confirming your email in order to access the system.

What To Do If You've Given Your Personal Information To A Fraudulent Employer

If you have given any personal information to a fraudulent employer, here are a few steps you should immediately take:

1. Report it to your school. Contact your Career Services Center immediately if you believe you have been scammed. You can find their contact information in Handshake by clicking on the school logo towards the left of your screen.

2. Report to local police. Police are responsible for conducting an investigation (regardless of whether the scam artist is local or not.)

3. Contact your Bank: If you have sent money to a fraudulent employer, immediately contact your bank or credit card company to protect the account and dispute any charges

4. File a Report with the FTC: Please report the job scam to the Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, which collects complaints about companies, business practices, and identity theft. File a report.

If you are new to Handshake, please use this sign-up portal to get started:

Enter your information
Select Sign up for an account
Complete the appropriate fields
After completing employer registration, you will receive a notification when your account is approved by the universities/colleges selected.
Complete your employer profile with as much information as possible. More information will generate greater applicant interest.
Start posting opportunities. (See next section.)

If you are already on Handshake, after signing in:

On the left side navigation toolbar, click Schools.
Click Add More Schools or Search by School Name to request specific schools.
Once you request Austin College, we will review your employer profile before approval.

Employers: post a position on Handshake

Sign into your employer account on Handshake.
On the left side navigation toolbar, click Jobs, under Postings.
On the top right, click the blue box that says Create Job.
Complete the job posting with as much detail and description as possible.
Add which schools you would like to post the job to from the left navigation bar.
Enter application start and expiration dates, then click Create.

Note: You can provide qualifications for positions. Applicants who do not meet your preferences will still be able to apply, but Handshake will highlight and filter those out if you choose to do so.

View all posted positions at any time, by clicking Jobs from the left hand navigation toolbar.
